Parul Chaudhary, Indian Athlete, became such an iconic personality after winning a Gold and Silver Medals in Asian Games 2023 held in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China (PRC), a country in East Asia. Parul is the first Indian runner to clock a sub-9 minute time in the women’s 3000m.

On Monday, she won the silver medal in the 3000m women’s steeplechase and then, her mindblowing performance in the event of 5000m long distance running, clinched the gold medal. At the last moments, Parul accelerates herself to achieve the timing 15:14:75 to beat Japanese Athlete HIRONAKA Ririka who completes in just 15:15:43.

Parual was born on April 15, 1995 in Eklota Village – Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Parual hails from Jat family of Jhajj Gotra. The 28-year-old athlete hails from Uttar Pradesh, India. Her father Kishanlal Chaudhary is a farmer and her mother Rajesh Devi is a housewife. Parul is one of the four children. Since childhood, Parul has always had a dream of winning a gold medal for India. At a very young age, in 2014, she ran so fast in barefoot to reach her school. She started preparing for 1500m and then, 3000m and took to 5000m.

In the 2023 Asian Athletics Championship which was held at Bangkok, she won gold medal in women’s 3000m steeplechase. In August, she set a personal best time and national records in 3000m steeplechase with the time of 9:15:31 at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, capital of Hungary and this win helped Parul to secure a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

After this win, Parul Choudhary became top Indian woman steeplechaser athlete.   

Parul Choudhary and her family’s contribution, especially her father, who told her to take part in the school race and from that, the journey of Parul has been started.
